Pondicherry University Vice-Chancellor Meets Union Education Minister

Prof. P. Prakash Babu, Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University, Puducherry, paid a courtesy visit to Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Union Minister for Education, Government of India, in New Delhi on April 17, 2025. During the meeting, Prof. Babu apprised the Minister of various developments and academic activities underway at Pondicherry University and its affiliated colleges. He also sought the Minister’s support, guidance, and a possible visit to the University to further strengthen its initiatives.

The meeting focused on the University’s efforts towards enhancing academic excellence, research capabilities, and overall institutional growth. Prof. Babu emphasized the importance of continued support from the Ministry to achieve the University’s long-term goals aligned with the National Education Policy.

It is notable that the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, in her role as the Visitor of Pondicherry University, appointed Prof. Phanithi Prakash Babu as Vice-Chancellor by exercising her authority under Statute 1(A) of the Pondicherry University Act, 1985.

Prof. Babu’s leadership marks a new phase for Pondicherry University as it aims to reach greater heights in education, research, and innovation with the support of the Ministry of Education.
