Pondi Uni Vice Chancellor doubles down for students’ mental health at his New Year’s address
On the 2nd of January, Prof. Tharanikkarasu, the Vice Chancellor i/c of Pondicherry University, held his New Year’s address, where he brought together all the students, Administrative and Teaching staff of PU. In this meeting, he emphasized many areas of improvement, starting with the students’ mental health.
Students were encouraged to consult the Mental Health Counsellors of the university – an initiative that was a long time coming and was universally praised.

Other areas of improvement included Pondicherry University’s environmental efforts. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized not using ‘single-use plastic’, encouraged sapling plantations to reverse the effects of the Fengal cyclone, and also encouraged more usage of electric vehicles. All these initiatives were part of the university’s Green Audit Report.
