PU Achieves Global Recognition in Sustainability, Research Citations in Latest THE and QS Rankings

Puducherry, June 28, 2025 — Pondicherry University has made its mark on the global academic stage with outstanding performances in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings and the QS World University Rankings 2026.

In the latest THE Impact Rankings, which evaluate institutions based on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Pondicherry University improved its score to 65.6–70.2, securing a position in the 601–800 band among 2,526 participating universities worldwide. Noteworthy performances were recorded in key SDGs: Life on Land (101–200), No Poverty (301–400), and Gender Equality (401–600).

In the QS World University Rankings 2026, the University ranked in the 1201–1400 global band, standing among only 54 Indian institutions featured. It earned praise for advancements in Sustainability, International Research Networks, and achieved an impressive global rank of 545 in Citations per Faculty. The University also secured the 820th position globally in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2025 and ranked 29th in India.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu congratulated the entire University community, praising their dedication and calling for continued excellence in pursuit of global academic leadership.
