Pondicherry University Hosts Iftar Programme To Mark Unity and Harmony

Pondicherry Central University is hosting annual Ramadan Iftar program between March 2 and March 31, 2025. Organized under the guidance of the university mess, this initiative is planned by students to promote social cohesion on campus. With an expected turnout of approximately 900 students, the event reflects the university’s dedication to inclusiveness and communal harmony.

Alongside the Iftar, the much-anticipated Annual Dinner and Dance Function is also being organized, with generous support from sponsors and student donors. This event, symbolizing unity among the student body, is being executed with careful planning and time management by various student communities. The cost of the food is kept at an accessible rate of just ₹28 per day, ensuring affordability for students. The Iftar is meticulously planned, with male students gathering for the evening meal at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, while female students partake in the Girls’ Hostel Mess.

The Iftar at Pondicherry Central University is more than a meal. It’s also an effort by students and volunteers to push the university’s core values of harmony, inclusivity and service. With an estimated budget of 8, 21, 400, this annual event shows the enormity of the college community’s commitment to this endeavour. Observed as a holy tradition by Muslim students who fast during Ramadan, the Iftar serves as a powerful manifestation of unity and shared purpose within the university community.
