New Open-Air Theatre Inaugurated at Pondicherry University

Pondicherry University marked a significant day of infrastructure development with the inauguration of three major facilities aimed at enriching student life and fostering a vibrant academic environment. The newly constructed Open-Air Theatre, the Office of the Proctorial Board, and two specially designed selfie points were formally opened by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. P. Prakash Babu, in the presence of university stakeholders, faculty, and students.

Prof. Prakash Babu inaugurated the Open-Air Theatre on campus, a venue built to accommodate thousands of students. He also participated in a symbolic sapling plantation drive at the site, highlighting the university’s commitment to sustainability and green campus initiatives.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of such a facility for Generation Z. “Today’s youth are not only excelling in academics but are also incredibly talented in visual and performing arts,” he said. “This Open-Air Theatre is not just a platform for cultural activities but also a space for informal intellectual discourse among students and scholars across disciplines.”
