Celebrating 125 years of Alliance Francaise in Pondicherry
Alliance Francaise Pondicherry celebrated its 125th anniversary ceremoniously on 28 February, 2014. It is the oldest Alliance Francaise among all the others in Asia. The celebrations included series of cultural events by both Indian and French artists. A parade and concert organized as a part of Indo-French festival 2014, started from the French Consulate and travelled through the streets of Pondicherry. Students and professors of AFP, Singer Kavitha Gopi, musicians Fantazio and Paul Jacob, French band Imperial Kikiristan, Indian folk dancers and the inmates of Annai Velangani and Santhosha Nanban were part of the parade. The parade was colourful with students of Alliance Francaise and other institutions dressed up in attractive costumes. The festival was organized in association with the Department of Tourism, Pondicherry, French Embassy in India and Navayuga Consultancy. The parade was followed by a concert by the French band Imperial Kikiristan at the Beach road.
