Pondicherry University Celebrates Faculty Achievements With State and National Honours, and Global Recognition

In a ceremony held at Pondicherry University on October 23, Vice-Chancellor (i/c) Prof. K. Tharanikkarasu extended heartfelt congratulations to faculty members honoured with prestigious state and national awards. Among the distinguished awardees were Dr. C. Jaya Sankar Babu and Dr. Pavithra, who were recognized for their contributions in their respective fields.

Dr. C. Jaya Sankar Babu, Head of the Department of Hindi, received the National Teachers Award from President Droupadi Murmu on September 5, 2024, in recognition of his dedication to excellence in teaching. Dr. Pavithra, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Performing Arts, was honoured with the Nataka Academy Award 2023-24 by the Government of Karnataka on September 19, 2024, acknowledging her contributions to theatre as an artist, director, and academician.

Beyond these national honours, Pondicherry University celebrated an impressive global achievement as thirteen faculty members were recently ranked among the top 2% of scientists worldwide. This recognition, conducted by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier, highlights researchers making significant contributions across diverse academic disciplines.
