Kameleon: A festival of performing arts
Kameleon is the Pondicherry Festival of Theatre and Performing Arts that owes its existence to Kumarane Valavane, a French national of Tamil origin. A talented director and actor, with a passion for the performing arts and French and Tamil literature, Kumarane Valavane wanted to bring together and celebrate the two cultures in the cosmopolitan city of Pondicherry. In April 2010, with the support of the Mr. Pierre Fournier, the Consul General of France in Pondicherry and Mr. Mathew Samuel of the Pondicherry Tourism Department, Kumarane Valavane and the entire Indianostrum team of artists, rolled up their sleeves and got to work in order to launch the very first edition of this festival.Â
The event attracted more than 10000 people despite the limited budget and the late announcement of the festival. This video is about the second year of the theatre festival.
