Short Film by PU Students Bags Honour at Swachhta Hi Seva 2025

Puducherry, October 2: First-year students of B.A. in Media and Communication at Pondicherry University brought honor to the institution by winning Second Prize in the Swachhta Hi Seva 2025 Short Film Competition. Arranged by Oulgaret Municipality as part of the National Swachh Bharat Mission campaign, the competition focused on promoting awareness in keeping our surroundings clean, encouraging hygienic habits, and raising the use of sustainable waste management systems.

The winning students were Shivam Kumar, Shreyal Vatti, Mekala Ravi Suman Yadav, Priyanka, and Roobashree. The students were awarded a collective cash prize and certificates, presented by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Puducherry, Shri N. Rangaswamy, and the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Shri K. Kailashnathan. 

The University team’s film focuses on issues of littering and how ordinary people can bring about a change. Their thought-provoking story and creativity in spreading awareness through filmmaking won significant recognition from the judges. This achievement sparks a moment of pride for the University and showcases the role of young filmmakers in spreading awareness and contributing to a national cause.
