Release of documentary film on NCC by PU
The release function of a documentary film on NCC was held on 11 July at UMISARC Auditorium, Silver Jubilee Campus of Pondicherry University. The film was released by Virendra Kataria, Lt. Governor in the presence of Prof. (Mrs.) Chandra Krishnamurthy, Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Raajiv Yaduvanshi, Registrar, Col. M.K. Joshi, NCC Puducherry Group Commander, NCC officers and cadets. This landmark event was an apt tribute to the completion of 50 years of NCC in Puducherry on 24 January, 2014.
The film has been a collaborative effort of NCC and Pondicherry University. The basic aim of making the film in Tamil is to ensure that an average student from even the remotest villages of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu understands the role of NCC. This point was also highlighted by the Lt. Governor during his address. He also hailed it as a milestone for NCC Group, Puducherry. He expressed happiness that the joint venture of the NCC and University has produced a film which will inspire and motivate the young students of schools and colleges. The Lt. Governor exhorted the staff of NCC to continue shaping these young minds to become responsible citizens and effective leaders.
The felicitation address was given by the Vice-Chancellor who also complimented the members of the production team led by J A Sanjeev Kumar, Producer and the NCC who were involved in making of the film. Sanjeev Kumar has to his credit nearly 200 films, of which 25 films have won awards at national and regional levels. During the occasion, an NCC Diary was also released by the Chief Guest as a Golden Jubilee Souvenir.
