Anna in the eye of the storm
Anna Hazare, a name in every Indian’s mouth! Not mere gossip, but lengthy discussions across all generations. Some may say that here is a man who is standing in front of an entire nation, or some may even say here is a fraud who just wants publicity! Questions at every step he takes, question at every word he speaks. Who is this Anna Hazare? Is he a media cult figure, or is he a genuine man who has stepped up to save our country from corruption. Let’s leave the man for a moment, and let’s discuss corruption.
Corruption is everywhere; corruption is in every country and also in the minutest of levels. Aren’t we corrupted? Haven’t we ever paid a bribe to someone to get our things done? Why blame the government and government officials and not ourselves? Aren’t our hands dirty as well?
So why didn’t we think of standing up against corruption? Why does a 74 year old man need do that? Forget the issue of hunger strike or if he is affiliated with the opposition party. The fact still remains that he alone stood up against corruption and we didn’t. Support him or don’t support him, but this man has lit a fire within all of us and the young generation. This man has taught us to stand up against a system which is wrong and most importantly this man has given us the belief that change is inevitable. In the long run, I see change at the end of the tunnel. I see people questioning the government and not swallowing whatever is thrown at them. I see a united nation, a united India fighting corruption!
