Awareness rally on National Voters’ Day

Pudu United Charitable Trust (PUCT) in collaboration with the Election Department of Puducherry is working to expand the voters’ awareness program and to educate the people about the importance of voting and participating in the electoral process.

PUCT is a young organization, started in 2012, which aims to inspire and empower a generation of young people who believe in the need to do something for the country through committed action.

On behalf of the Election Department of Puducherry, PUCT organised a cycle rally on 11 January, 2014 the Natoinal Voter’s Day. The rally started from the Gandhi statue on Beach Road at 9 am. Riding through important landmarks like the railway station, the bus stand, the 100 Ft. Road, Raja Theatre, the market on J.N. Street, Anna Salai, Senji Salai, it finally came back to the Beach Road at 11 am.

Vincent Rayer, Deputy Collector, did the honour of flagging off the cycle rally. Also present were T. Sreekanth, Chief Electoral officer, Sridaran, Deputy Chief Electoral officer, Neduzian, Nodal Officer.

About hundred people participated in the rally. Among them were NCC and NSS cadets from various colleges like Christ College of Engineering and Technology, Pondicherry University, Tagore Arts College, took part in this cycle rally and related to the people the importance of voting.
