It is now the Department of Electronic Media and Mass Communication. It offers an exciting, engaging and facilitating journey into the world of media and communication. The department trains students in the spheres of journalism, television production, radio production, advertising, public relations, film studies, digital media and photography. Since its inception, it has been bringing out a students\u2019 practice journal \u2018The Inquirer\u2019. The students are also actively involved in creating programmes for the community radio station-\u201cPuduvai Vaani FM 107.8 MHz\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Our aim is to nurture cutting edge media professionals with effective communication and critical thinking skills. Enrichment lectures by media stalwarts and face-to-face virtual workshops by media practitioners are organised on a regular basis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The pedagogy includes a strong emphasis on practical training along with theoretical components. International and national film festivals, national seminars, media training workshops and campus visits of professionals from various streams of media are organized regularly. As part of the course curriculum, students undergo internship in an area of their choice for a period of one month.
