Pondicherry University Film Festival, organised by students of the Department of Electronic Media and Mass Communication had even more to offer on its second day- March 18th<\/sup>, Tuesday. Delegates from across the campus were met with conflicting choices as they navigated a vibrant array of movie genres and languages. The screenings started at 9:45 am across all three screens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thaazhvaram,<\/em> a Malayalam movie, written by the late M.T. Vasudevan was screened as part of the In Memoriam movies category. The movie left the audience spellbound and was appreciated for its strong narrative and Mohanlal\u2019s performance. Movies like The Banshees of Inisherin<\/em> and The Matrix<\/em> witnessed huge footfall at the auditorium. Ulidavaru Kandanthe <\/em>by Rakshit Shetty and Village Rockstars<\/em> by Rima Das were also screened in the regional movies category. Tamil black and white film Aval Appadithan<\/em>– a female-centric movie, starring Sripriya, Kamal Hassan, and Rajnikanth offered a feministic perspective, touching on themes of female agency, sexuality, and societal acceptance.<\/p>\n\n\n

Additionally, Kneecap<\/em>, an Irish language film by Rich Pappiat, explored a hip-hop group\u2019s movement to save their mother tongue from erasure. The world\u2019s first fully oil-painted feature film-Loving Vincent<\/em> by Hugh Welchman was another visual treat to the audience. In the documentary category, Prisoner No.626710 is Present<\/em>– a documentary about the political prisoner Umar Khalid was screened. The screening sparked discussions among the audience with many praising the decision to include the documentary in the festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From drama to thrillers, from comedies to stark realities, the second day of PUFF was a visual feast for the audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
