It commemorates the liberation of Puducherry from French colonial rule in 1954. &nbsp;This day marks the integration of Puducherry into the Indian Union as a Union Territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It marks the end of over 300 years of French colonial rule in Puducherry.
