Suresh Nair draws as Rakjumar plays<\/p><\/div>\n

The evening of 8 June at Maison Perumal was an enchanting one where art and music fused together to give a breath taking experience to all those who had gathered. It was the inauguration of the solo show by Suresh K. Nair titled Musical Drawings. True to the name, Suresh Nair along with Flutist Rajkumar gave a live performance of drawing abstract paintings to classical music.<\/span><\/p>\n

The inauguration function saw the presence of MLA K. Lakshminarayan, who was the chief guest. The evening began with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the chief guest followed by Rajkumar playing his flute and Suresh Nair drawing to it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Suresh Nair started his journey of musical drawing 5 years ago in Benaras in association with the Anandwan group of artists in Benaras where monthly one painting camp is organised which brings art to people. Professionals from different fields, also join these painting camps. Mr. Balakrishnan, who has also an interest in painting, photography and cartooning joined the Anandwan group and worked closely with the artist Suresh Nair.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rajkumar, who weaved magic with his music began his journey in music at the age of 11. He hails from a family of musicians. His father Kalaimamani Rajamanickam is a renowned carnatic vocalist. Rajkumar has been surrounded by music since his childhood and he says he has a keen passion for music which has helped him learn various instruments and vocal music. His favourite instrument is flute. He is also a carnatic and hindustani classical vocalist and has finished his piano grade exams. He aspires to become a music composer for films.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his musical rendering at the inauguration of the exhibition, Rajkumar played in such a way so as to enable the artist Suresh Nair to draw for varied moods. Rajkumar says, that he tried to mix a lot of ragas for the evening’s performance including kamas, hamsadwani, hamsanandi, mohanam, sivaranjini<\/em>. The variation in pitch and tempo helped Suresh Nair to express his creative flow of energy in abstract drawing for over half an hour.<\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibition is open to all till 6 July at Maison Perumal.<\/span><\/p>\n
