The 65th<\/sup> Republic Day was celebrated at the Indira Gandhi sports complex, Uppalam, Pondicherry. The Chief Guest Mr.Virendra Kataria, Lt. Governor of Pondicherry, hoisted the flag. Mr. N. Rangasamy,\u00a0Chief Minister the Central Minister of Pondicherry Mr. P. Rajavelu Minister of Tourism Pondicherry, all Minister\u2019s and MLA\u2019s are a few who were present at the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the flag hoisting, Governor distributed awards to police officers for their achievements. Awards were also given to schools who had achieved 100% pass percentage in SSLC and Higher Secondary examinations. Army, Navy and Air force personnel, NCC students, scouts and guides and students from government and private schools participated in the march past.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tableaux of Adi-Dravidar Welfare Department, Department of Agriculture, Veterinary Department, Election Department, Electricity Department, Tourism Department, Department of Health & Family Welfare Services, and Homeopathy for Healthy Mother Happy Child, Fishers Welfare Department, Department of Women and Child Development were part of the procession.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Award for the best march past went to Pondicherry Police and the Navy wing of NCC. For the Government schools,\u00a0<\/span>
\n Students of Calve College won the trophy for boys while students of Subramaniya Bharathiyar School won the same for girls.\u00a0<\/span>
\n Among private schools, boys of Vivekananda and girls of Sri Sampourna won the cup. Students of various Schools exhibited their talent in dance and the function ended with the National Anthem.<\/span><\/p>\n
